The Development Innovation Economy by USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah
USAID Administrator Dr. Rajiv Shah will share a vision of American leadership through development innovation in a Terry Sanford Distinguished Lecture. From innovation labs that generate profitable, cutting-edge solutions in development to partnerships that connect American entrepreneurs with emerging markets, Shah believes the United States can advance a new model of development that sets the nation and its young people at the forefront of the development innovation economy.
Dr. Shah serves as the 16th administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and leads the efforts of more than 8,000 professionals in 80 missions around the world. Since being sworn in on Dec. 31, 2009, Shah managed the U.S. government's response to the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, co-chaired the State Department's first review of American diplomacy and development operations, and now spearheads President Obama's landmark Feed the Future food security initiative. He also leads "USAID Forward," an extensive set of reforms to USAID's business model around seven key areas, including procurement, science & technology, and monitoring and evaluation.
