SketchyBar vs Simple-Bar: Best macOS Menu Bar for Power Users?
I've been using SketchyBar I think that for around a year, people may think the bar is just something aesthetic, but it's not. SketchyBar for example lets me know the microphone I'm using and it's input level. It also shows me if my microphone is muted or not, It lets me know how many outdated brew packages I have, so that I know when it's time to update them, helps me see if I'm on Do Not Disturb (DND) mode, I put myself on DND when recording a video. Helps me see if I'm connected to the internet via Ethernet, Wi-Fi or if I'm not connected at all.
The possibilities are endless, if for example I would like to know what the Tx speed on the main WAN interface of my mikrotik router is, I can create a script that gathers that data, and show it in SketchyBar.
Items in the bar are clickable, so you can execute actions when you click on something
I've been pretty happy with SketchyBar until I met Uebersicht which is an application that allows you to show HTML5 widgets in macOS, one of these widgets is simple-bar, which is an alternative to SketchyBar
