StarQuery - MultiDatabase/MultiSource Querying
What this video will show:
This video will show the MultiDatabase Connector feature of StarQuery Suite 4. We will create a Mapfile in MapDesigner (IT/DB Admin tool) which will map the two databases together and then run a query that will export the data into excel using the end user tool StarQuery for Excel.
1.) Establishing the initial connection to two Databases in MapDesigner.
a. In this example we use AS/400 & MSSQL
b. Critical feature to use when expecting hundreds of thousands of records - InMemory and/or InMemory Plus
2.) Add Joins between the two databases.
3.) Add Tables from each Database.
4.) Create dimensions 'views' that will contain only selected fields from each database.
5.) Save MapFile for endusers to create queries in StarQuery for Excel.
6.) Create a query that has fields from each Database—see results in Excel for further manipulation
7.) Quickly format data/table
