All About Africa | The Shocking Reality of Migrant Work in the Middle East
When I read this article from The New York Times, I was left speechless.
East African women are promised employment opportunities in the Middle East, only to face starvation, sexual abuse, and even death.
While the government and recruiting agencies actively promote the overseas work program, assisting these women in connecting with families to work for and processing their paperwork, the support stops there.
Once these women are subjected to abuse or death, both they and their families are left to fend for themselves.
