Fans of Inazuma Eleven, how did you first discover the series? Watch the show on TV? Find the game in a shop? For me, I was an avid reader of the Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK, which in Issue 73 in October 2011, gave a full multiple-page review of the first Inazuma Eleven game for the DS, their 'Game of the Month'. In reality, absolutely nothing else released in October 2011 and Inazuma Eleven was practically the only good game on a Nintendo platform released in this whole month - but thank goodness that was the case, because this big positive review of Inazuma Eleven is what caused me to sink the next 11 years of my life playing, watching, discussing and making content for the series. Today, I take a look back at Issue 73 of ONM to see Axel Blaze and Mark Evans littered across the pages as we read the review that got me to part with my £20 that one day in Morrisons. Does the review still hold up today? Did they get bits wrong, right, maybe even point out some observations in the series that we're all used to by now? Let's read and find out!
The INAZUMA ELEVEN review in Official Nintendo Magazine was written by Simon Parkin, and the issue itself was edited by Neil Long.
