Stepped Footing Working Drawing :
Stepped footing is simply type of isolated footing provided over soil having less bearing capacity. Because of low soil capacity load need to be transfer over larger area and as per IS 456 load should transfer with specific pattern (the effective cross-section in compression of sloped and stepped footings shall be limited by the area above the neutral plane….also load transfer angle criteria etc. to satisfy these criteria thickness not provided as like rectangular footing. Hence steps are provided.
