Mustang Trunk release button install
Hello this is a walk thru on how to install a trunk release button on your 2005-09 mustang.
One thing Ford over looked while making these was a interior trunk release button inside the car! some times you may not have your key fob on you or you might have even locked your keys in your trunk! this is a good solution to solve those problems! You can Purchase a Truck release button kit for about $50 that includes the wire and button already. or you can spend $8 and make one yourself like we did! Wither you bought the kit with the button and wire ready to go or if you are doing what we did. this video will show you step by step how to do it!
Steps:
1. Remove Square Shifter trim piece. (easy. just work a trim removal tool around the square trim panel that goes around the shifter)
*** This step will be different for Manual. That step would involve unscrewing shifter knob then working shifter boot loose*
2. Remove center console top panel. (two screws located inside of glove box. You will need to pull emergency break up.)
you should be able to see the wire you will have to cut into.
3. Remove side trim. (just pull on it. simple. it will sound loud but thats actually how you get it off.)
4. Remove door foot trim that says "mustang".
5. Remove fuse box trim piece. These come over by pulling and snapping into place. pull toward you while taking trim off.
You will then see wires wrapped in electrical tape. cut into tape DO NOT damage any other wires while doing this. located the white wire with pink stripe. that will be the wire to connect to the one by the shifter.
