Imogiri is a sub-district located in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY). In Javanese, Imogiri means "mist mountain."

Imogiri is the burial site of the kings of Islamic Mataram, built by Sultan Agung, the greatest king of the Mataram Sultanate, who ruled from 1613 to 1645. Sultan Agung is also a National Hero for fighting the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in Batavia from 1628 to 1629.

In addition to the burial complex of the kings of Islamic Mataram, Imogiri also houses a burial complex for artists, some of whom produced national works that still resonate throughout the archipelago today.
