Maiasaura: Learn About Dinosaurs with World Book's Professor Nick
TRANSCRIPT: Hi, I'm professor Nick at World Book. Today, I'm going to talk about Maiasaurs, whose
name means “good mother lizard,” and that's because Maiasaurs were one of the few good mother dinosaurs. Like most other dinosaurs, Maiasaura laid eggs in a nest. But unlike many dinosaurs, Maiasaura guarded its eggs from enemies and took care of its babies once they hatched. Scientists believe Maiasaura were among the most social of all dinosaurs. The animals lived in large groups called herds and built their nests near each other. Maiasaura had wide snouts that looked like duckbills. They probably walked on all four legs most of the time, but when escaping enemies, they raised their forelegs and ran on two hind legs.
