Ubuntu 16.04 | An improved experience | Linux computer
Latest Ubuntu seems pretty stable and robust on my system. I see few bugs were wiped out in this release. Also, I have found that Ubuntu consuming less memory than other operating systems on my system.
Ubuntu 16.04, codenamed "Xenial Xerus," was a Long-Term Support (LTS) version of the Ubuntu Linux distribution released on April 21, 2016. As an LTS release, it received updates and support for five years, until April 2021. Ubuntu 16.04 featured the Unity desktop environment as its default user interface. Unity provided a modern and intuitive user experience with features such as the Unity Dash, Launcher, and HUD (Head-Up Display) for accessing applications and system settings. Ubuntu 16.04 shipped with the Linux 4.4 kernel, which provided support for new hardware components, improved performance, and stability enhancements. Ubuntu 16.04 introduced support for Snaps, a new packaging format and package manager designed to provide easier and more reliable software distribution. Snaps allow developers to package applications and their dependencies in a single containerized format, making it easier to distribute and update software across different versions of Ubuntu. Ubuntu 16.04 used the Ubuntu Software Center (or GNOME Software) as the default graphical package manager for installing, removing, and updating software packages. Additionally, users could use the command-line package manager (APT) to manage software packages and repositories. Ubuntu 16.04 included a selection of default applications for common tasks such as web browsing, email, office productivity, multimedia playback, and system administration. This included applications such as the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Thunderbird email client, LibreOffice office suite, Rhythmbox music player, and Totem video player.
