While TCP is the most commonly used protocol in Nmap, many network services (such as DNS-53, DHCP-161/162, and SNMP-67/68) still use UDP. When performing a network audit in Kali Linux, checking both TCP and UDP services will improve the path taken during the tests to provide a more comprehensive map of the target host/network. Because UDP scanning in Nmap is slower and more difficult than TCP, some security agents ignore these ports. This is actually a mistake, as attackers can exploit all protocols.
