Happy Pi Day of the Century (3.1415)! More on that later, but now for something completely different.
My home media system is built around Windows Media Center.
• Over The Air TV System Overview
I looked around for Media Center Extenders:
• LINKSYS DMA2100 MEDIA CENTER EXTENDER Demo
http://store.linksys.com/Wireless-N-M...
http://cetoncorp.com/products/echo/
But could not find any that worked with the Windows 8 version of Media Center despite the text in Media Center itself.
The XBox360 seems to be the only option available, but I don't have one. And from the looks of it, I also need to sign up for an XBox Live subscription to watch my own free over the air TV recordings? Apparently the free subscription does enable the MCE features:

I wanted to get away from subscriptions when I cut my cable. On top of that, this gaming box uses as much power as my 10 yr. old recycled media PC uses:
• Media Center PC, Part 1
So there's no power saving using the XBox360 to replace an actual PC for accessing Media Center, why not just run the PC?
So for a project idea, I wonder how close to a media center extender one can get? So what about Pi Day? Since it is THE Pi Day of the century (3.1415), how about we try that with what else, a Raspberry Pi!
