I've been asked to demonstrate my approach to gin spool driver pins (ASSA) and what states I feel while picking these. Once the drivers are all set (at the shearline) or in the counter milling, there are three states that I notice:
1) Pin in counter milling and binding - this pin does not move at all and is hard to the touch with minimal tension
2) Pin in counter milling but not binding - this pin jiggles, similar to a set pin but often with more range of motion, this jiggle can be eliminated by cranking up the tension as a test
3) Pin is set - this pin jiggles, it is very slight and the jiggle does not go away when the tension is cranked up
