Trapped between a greedy new publisher and an industry that was beginning to reject the CRPG, this is the story of Ultima VII Pt 2: Serpent Isle - a game that was almost everything it could've been, but wasn't.
It's not just the story of an unfinished game. It's the origin story of a duplicitous villain, and the beginning of the end for a legendary developer. It's a farewell to the video game industry's romantic period, and the acceptance of that inevitable march towards constant growth.
The Serpent Gate separates the good old days from... well, everything that came after them. This part of the Ultima series explores the unfortunate crossing of that threshold.
