Darkseid, real name Uxes, is a supervillain appearing in the DC Comics universe. The character was created by writer/artist Jack Kirby and first appeared
in the 1970 comic book titled "Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen." Darkseid is the tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips, and his goal is to conquer the universe and
eliminate all free will. He is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, and subsequently became the main adversary of Superman and the Justice League.
Darkseid is from a race known as the New Gods, and his primary power is the Omega Effect. He focuses this power into energy, which he can fire from his eyes. This effect isn't just a destructive attack; it can also teleport a target anywhere in the universe at Darkseid's command and then return them;
or it can simply destroy the target or transform them into something else. Darkseid has complete control over his Omega Beams, able to direct them directly toward a target or destroy a target
by bending the beams. The effect can penetrate virtually any barrier, including time and space. Darkseid claimed that no living being could withstand his Omega Beams, yet Doomsday and Superman have withstood them. Incapable of fatigue, Darkseid possesses infinite stamina. He also requires neither oxygen nor food. Darkseid can manipulate his size, mass, and density at will, altering his height and appearance. With just a thought, Darkseid
can create a duplicate of himself—an avatar—which is powerful enough to easily defeat the Justice League. Darkseid can rip the soul of an enemy with his hand and destroy it.
