God created the visible and invisible worlds.
The two worlds—material and spiritual—exist
separately, without mixing.
In man, God united these two worlds.
This is the essence of human life.
Through fasting, we can comprehend the beauty of Divine life.
The spiritual part of fasting consists primarily of watching our words,
speaking less. Then the warmth of Divine grace is preserved within us.
Through silence and intelligent words, man builds his soul.
"Silence is the true beginning of the purification of the soul, and it effortlessly fulfills all the commandments.
Silence is the mystery of the age to come" (St. Isaac the Syrian).
Fasting is the path to the highest, true joy.
