Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today that Ukraine had the right to defensive actions.

He responded, during a presser held in Warsaw, to a reporter's question on his assessment of Ukraine's incursion into Kursk region on the territory of Russia.

Tusk stressed that Poland's position remained unchanged and that Poland supported Ukraine unconditionally. The biggest threat and risk for Poland and Europe would be Ukraine's defeat, Tusk pointed out.

Donald Tusk, Polish Prime Minister: "Ukraine's actions are defensive actions. What Russia's troops, the Russian air force, are doing on Ukrainian territory, bears the hallmarks of genocide, and inhumane crimes. And Ukraine has every right to wage war in such a way as to paralyze Russia in its aggressive intentions as effectively as possible. Of course, at this highest political level, we are in constant contact. If you ask me if I am surprised by this unconventional, for some unexpected change in the situation on the front, I will say that no, I am not surprised. But, of course, there is no question of consultation, of consultation involving someone in Kyiv agreeing with me on which day, and where who will move. Well, it is clear that there is not.
On the other hand, our position does not change one iota. We support Ukraine in the war, which is a defensive war, and there is nothing to discuss here at all. And I realize that and we all know what the risks are. The biggest risk for Poland, for Europe, is Ukraine losing the war and Russia winning. This is a risk that would directly affect Poland and, in my opinion, all of Europe. And that is why Ukraine's actions that prevent this scenario are also actions for our security. There is no doubt in my mind."
