Underwater review and test for the brand new red filters for GoPro Dive Housing :
Snake River Prototyping red filter vs Backscatter red filter vs no filter...
Test was made with 2 x GoPro HD HERO2 with both GoPro Dive Housings, mounted side by side on a tray.
No extra light than the sun, no crop, no color or contrast adjustments... raw footages only.

If you are fed up with watching your videos in blue only, then think about a red filter !
I think for the moment, those 2 brands, Backscatter and Snake River Prototyping (SRP) are just the best red filters made for the new GoPro Dive Housing.
The test is clear and shows a significant difference between both filters.

I tested it mostly between 15 and 30 meters deep.
The deeper you are, the closer you will have to be away from the subject to retrieve reds and colors.
But I was very surprised how the SRP new filter is efficient, event at more than 20 meters.
The Backscatter is not that bad, it's a good product but seems to have a depth rate smaller, and cannot get a lot of reds below 15 meters, in salt waters like we have in french polynesia.
The review has to be extended in fresh water, or different waters (green, etc.)

Technically, the colors are amazing with the SRP filter.
The "magic flip" system for the Backscatter filter is usefull, but take care to mount it correctly to have the filter that fits perfectly the flat lens.
Though it's usefull to have this system to remove the filter during the dive, it becomes annoying to open the GoPro's backdoor.
Backscatter should also insert a cap or something to protect the filter.

The SRP filter looks terrible and pro. It's very easy to mount or unmount. As it's not yet sold at the moment, I'm not able to say more, but this will come soon surely.
I was very excited to test those filters, and according to what I just saw from my SD card, I will definitely dive with the SRP filter in french polynesia !
