STALKER LORE Monster Manual - The Burer
Sticking to dark and secluded underground locations, the Burer is a short and stocky mutant with telekinetic abilities. Believed to have been the result of soviet experimentation on convicted criminals and political prisoners, these mutants were developed in the infamous Lab 18X and Lab 8 in secret. The experiment’s goal was to develop increased telekinetic potential in humans, in an attempt to develop a new form of soldier for a potential war with the United States. The experiments, while successful in that they created creatures with the ability to move objects with thought alone, yielded mixed results. The creatures that emerged from the experiments were semi-intelligent humanoids who resembled humans, but appeared burnt. The subjects lost height while increasing muscle and skeletal mass. Most of the subjects also developed extreme light sensitivity and even writhed in pain when direct sunlight came into contact with their skin.
