Academy Prep Center of Tampa presents its fourteenth annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 28, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
The Fall Festival is a day for to celebrate as a community with friends, staff, students, and their families. Organized by the Parent Council, this year’s Fall Festival will feature a costume contest, carnival games, horseshoes, tug-of-war, prizes, an arts and crafts bazaar to fund yearly activities, and the ever popular dunk tank. Students always enjoy the opportunity to dunk Head of School, Lincoln Tamayo. In addition to being a day of fun, the festival is also a day of service. In the wake of the recent devastating hurricanes, the students have decided that this year's Fall Festival community service project is to collect supplies for people living in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico who have been impacted. Requested items include water, non-perishable food items, baby products, feminine products, toiletries, flashlights, and batteries.
Student service is an important component of the curriculum. Through enrichment programs, Academy Prep enhances classroom learning and develops students both socially and emotionally. Community service is the focus of the 8th graders’ Saturday field trips once a month. Earlier this semester students visited Metropolitan Ministries and led a school supply drive for the students of Lee Elementary. Every year, the 8th graders are required to come up with a fundraising idea or community service project which culminates at the Fall Festival.
