You know my love for Bangkok’s backstreet street food, but this time, I’ve found something even better—a back jungle street food joint! Nestled along a canal in a charming old wooden house near Wutthakat BTS station, Khun Lek’s Home Kitchen (อาหารบ้านคุณเล็ก) is a hidden gem where tradition meets pure culinary magic.
Here’s the twist: Instead of the usual kaprao (holy basil), we had it with bai yeera (clove basil), and let me tell you—it works so much better with Wagyu beef. The bold flavours, the aroma, the spice—it’s perfection. And if that wasn’t enough, we also tried the pad cha, which was absolutely unreal. In fact, it was Helen’s favourite dish of the day!
Picture this: longtail boats zipping by, the kindest aunties cooking up dishes you’ll never forget and even an English-speaking bird for good measure!
