Hey there, fellow aviation enthusiasts! Welcome back to Nocturnal Simulations! Today, we've got some exciting news to share about the latest Nvidia driver 535.98 that just hit the streets. This driver has been making waves because it's here to rescue you from the dreaded crash to desktop issue that's been driving folks bonkers. I've been doing a bit of testing and so far it seems exceptionally solid.
Up until this point I've been telling everyone to stick with an older version, 531.29, of their Nvidia drivers for stability. It has worked wonders for people who were constantly being plagued by the CTDs due to a driver problem.
If you've been pulling your hair out over this image popping up and crashing your sim to desktop, then rejoice! This driver is potentially a superhero swooping in to save the day. The fix was even announced in the patch notes, so don't waste a second and get your hands on this driver ASAP.
But hold on! There's a teeny tiny catch before you dive into driver bliss. It's highly recommended that you do a clean install of the drivers. Now, this means your precious Microsoft Flight Simulator might lose its settings temporarily, so keep a note of those little preferences. And oh, your Nvidia Control Panel settings? They'll take a little nap too, so jot those down, and be sure to re-add them after the update.
To pull off a squeaky clean install, just head over to Nvidia's website or the GeForce experience, snag the driver, and choose the "Custom Install" option. Then, ensure the "Perform a clean installation" choice is selected and follow the on-screen wizardry.
