explaining the colour theory behind the ocean visuals of the 2023 live action The Little Mermaid (Disney), starring Halle Bailey as Ariel. the lack of colour has a lot to do with the values and hues they chose for the environment. i found the ocean scenes to be quite dark and grey, and i would have loved more vibrancy - perhaps something more reminiscent of the bold animated version, but still grounded in reality.
