Hypothesis Test Errors:
TYPE 1 Error: the error of Rejecting Ho when Ho is True.
Discovering something that is really not there.
P(TYPE 1 Error) = α
α is set by the researcher at the very outset of the study
α is called the “significance level” or “level of significance” of the test
Typical choices for α are 0.10, 0.05, 0.01
TYPE 2 Error: the error of Failing to Reject Ho when Ho is False.
No action taken when there should have been action.
P(TYPE 2 Error) = β
β is not controlled directly
