The manual (and website) for TFD says that you need to be using a GPU with at least 1.5GB's of RAM in order to use the GPU simulation feature. My GTX 560 only has 1GB, however I was able to enable to the GPU sim feature by updating my GPU driver to the latest 285.62 driver.
The GPU simulation is definitely faster. Its not a huge improvement, but you can definitely see it simulating faster.
