This video is a recording of our webinar “Asymmetrical Multicore Processing for reliable, complex embedded systems” which was presented by ‘Toradex expert’ Valter Minute on Dec 11th 2014. The focus of this webinar is to highlight the challenges faced by today’s engineers to meet the inevitable global demand for feature-rich, highly user-interactive products. Developers & engineers today are often left wondering how to develop applications that enable concurrent real-time tasks and user interfaces while can also manage critical tasks effectively. This dichotomy puts a lot of pressure on the application’s resources which instead gives rise to new design challenges like improving performance, energy efficiency, etc. Valter Minute describes how to tackle this challenge using heterogeneous multicore approach in embedded computing.

In this webinar, we will discuss the Freescale’s Vybrid® multi-core architecture in detail and describe the different uses of its each core (Cortex-A and Cortex-M). We will also discuss the software support – RTOS (eCos®) and Linux implementation. It also includes a demo application (real-time XY pen plotter) developed using Colibri VF61 which leverages the Vybrid’s asymmetric advantages.
