"Lascia ch'io pianga" ("Let me weep") is a Soprano Aria in #Italian composed by George Frideric #Handel (Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1759)) first in 1705 in opera "Almira" as a sarabande and then in 1711 in his London opera "Rinaldo" act 2 HWV 7 (No. 22) aria that has become a popular concert piece. The lyrics were written by Giacomo Rossi.
This is the plea of a Human who longs for #Freedom and wants to break the chains of his tormentor. Its like a Prisoner who lives in deep sorrow and pain, and who begs his executioner for Liberty and mercy.
The original song was titled "Lascia la spina, cogli la rosa" written by Cardinal Benedetto Pamphili.
This Aria was sung and performed several times on many stages by famous singers, sopranos and counter tenors : Sarah Brightman, Angela Gheorghiu, Cecilia Bartoli, Montserrat Caballé, Hayley Westenra, Renée Fleming, Joyce DiDonato, Marilyn Horne, Philippe Jaroussky, Sandrine Piau, Barbra Streisand....

This is really a sentimental sweet and painful aria for those loving and fighting for their rights and freedom in this cruel world.

"Lascia Ch'io Pianga" = "#울게하소서" = "Let me Weep" = "Lass mich mit Tränen" = "Laissez-moi pleurer" = "どうか泣くのをお許しください".

This version is sung by the Korean Soprano Kang Hye-Jeong (소프라노 강혜정).

Lyrics and Translation are in CC (Closed Captions / Subs - Subtitles) in Arabic (عربى), Chinese (中文 – Zhōngwén), English, French (français), German (Deutsch), Hungarian (Magyar), Italian (Italiano), Japanese (日本語), Korean (한국어), Portuguese (Português), Romanian (română), Spanish (español), Swedish (Svenska) and Tunisian (Tounsi).

The lyrics in Italian :
Lascia ch'io pianga
Mia cruda Sorte
E che sospiri
la Libertà
Il duolo infranga
Queste ritorte
De' miei Martiri
Sol per Pietà.

The original English version as it appeared and was sung in the Rinaldo by Almirena to her abductor Argante:
Oppress’d, and troubled as you see me now,
Judge if my trembling Breast has room for Love!
Permit the wretched to complain
Of their unhappy Fate;
The Loss of Liberty is a pain
That Shou’d our Sighs create;
When you wou’d comfort an afflicted Mind,
Pity not Love, shou’d make you kind.

The modern adopted English version is:
Let me weep over
My cruel fate
And let me yearn for liberty.
May sorrow shatter
These chains tormenting me
Just out of pity.

Everyone take care and stay safe.
