Microwave repair. Simple magnetron repair using what was available.
Microwave repair, or more specifically, the magnetron. When a microwave makes terrible noises, these are symptoms of a malfunctioning magnetron. The first cause is a broken mica gasket (in our case, there was no gasket, as this is the design). The culprit turned out to be the magnetron cap. Since we didn't have one on hand, we had to find a capacitor of the appropriate size and use its housing (it's better if you find a thimble; it fits perfectly).
