I remember Chex Quest fondly. Back in 1996 the thought of a video game being packaged for free in boxes of cereal was unheard of and yet Chex cereal did exactly that and the result was a retro gaming classic. What may surprise some people though is how the Chex Quest series has endured since its original promotion back in 1996. Not only was there a Chex Quest 2 and Chex Quest 3 there was also recently a Chex Quest HD to coincide with a brand new promotion for Chex Mix.
So why has this series endured? Was it the clever marketing? Or was it just because Chex Quest 1996 was basically a re-skinned version of Doom? And does it still hold up today? Find out in this Chex Quest review retrospective.
