How to make Mead, because it's What You Eat. In this case, it's What You Drink.
1 gallon purified water
1 lb raw honey
whisk
cheesecloth
Bottle or jug (glass or ceramic)
STERILIZE EVERYTHING!!!
Make sure you're working with clean hands, utensils, and surfaces. We're not cooking the honey, or heating it up, so you need to make sure you're not tainting the process with your tainted taints.
Whisk your honey into your filtered water. We used a food grade plastic pitcher to stir our honey and mead. You can absolutely add other fruits as well to flavor the drink. Once everything is combined, transfer your mead to a jug or bottle.
Don't close the lid with an air-tight seal! The natural yeast will release its gases and could potentially blow the lid off.
Place your mead in a dark location where it will not be disturbed. (cupboards are awesome)
In about two weeks, you're ready to either drink it right away, or seal away for months to ferment longer.
Of course, you may absolutely mix it up and add whichever flavor combinations you prefer because it's what you eat!
