Israeli naval forces intercepted an international aid flotilla headed for Gaza, carrying over 500 civilians, activists, and humanitarian supplies. The ships, which included Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, were stopped in international waters about 70 nautical miles from Gaza. Activists accused Israel of boarding the vessels, cutting communications, detaining dozens, and even using chemical agents, though Israel stated all passengers were safe and being taken to port.

The interception triggered global condemnation: Turkey called it terrorism, Colombia expelled Israeli diplomats after two of its citizens were detained, and protests erupted in Istanbul. The UN urged respect for international law.

This comes as Israel warns Gaza residents to evacuate or be treated as enemy combatants amid expanding military operations. Meanwhile, Qatar is promoting a peace plan it discussed with U.S. President Trump, aimed at ending the war and providing Palestinian security guarantees. Retired Colonel Daniel Davis noted the plan faces major obstacles: Israel rejects Palestinian statehood and vows to keep its forces in Gaza, while Hamas and others are excluded from negotiations. Davis argued an immediate ceasefire is urgently needed, but divisions among Israel, the U.S., and Arab states make peace highly uncertain.
