In this video, Dr. Rahil Chaudhary discusses situations where we advise against undergoing eye surgery, especially for those who come in to remove their glasses. Many young patients, usually in their 20s or 30s, may want to get rid of their glasses, but not everyone is a candidate for surgery.
At our hospital, we perform 15-20 eye tests to ensure the patient’s eyes are in the best condition for surgery. If we detect even a slight risk — as little as 1% — we may advise against the procedure. Since most of our patients are young and will live with their vision for many more years, we don’t want to take any unnecessary risks.
The checkups are extremely thorough, and the results must be absolutely perfect. If any test shows even the slightest concern, we may recommend against the surgery.
In fact, for every 100 patients who come in to remove their glasses, around 70-80 may be approved, but we might need to turn away 20-30 due to potential risks.
