abode Starter Kit Security System Review- Is it Worth It?
Note: abode now offers email and phone support to all of its customers regardless of their monitoring plan. They also recently introduced an integration with Apple HomeKit. Finally, abode has also changed it's pricing. The Standard Plan costs $6 a month while the Pro plan costs $20 a month and includes professional monitoring and cellular backup.

If you’ve never heard of #abode, then I can offer an education. They were founded in 2014 by a former ADT executive who wanted to give customers more control over their security systems.

What does that mean, exactly? Well, #abode is the only security company that I’ve seen to offer on-demand professional monitoring in addition to 24/7 professional monitoring and self-monitoring. That means that you can get professional monitoring for three days or a week, wherever, whenever! That’s pretty cool, especially considering some companies make you sign up for three to five years.
I bought the abode Essentials Starter Kit, which includes a gateway, a mini door/ window sensor, a motion sensor, and a key fob. The system integrates with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT, as well as smart products from Nest, Philips Hue, Yale, Kwikset, and more.
