Did you know that whales can whisper? After their birth calves need to travel up to 5 000 miles with their mother, to reach their feeding areas. During this trip, they need to find energy by suckling. Meanwhile they use vocalisations in low call rates to communicate. This method can be dangerous because predators could hear them and then attack while they’re in a weak position
To stay discrete, they developed a method that uses acoustics signals at a lower rate level: they whisper.
