This video tutorial will teach you how to set up and program your Intermatic ET8000 Series Digital Timer.
GETTING STARTED
VOLTAGE SELECTION: Before installation, it is important to set the correct voltage using the voltage selection switch on the back of the timer mechanism. Please refer to the timers manual for more details.
CIRCUIT OPERATION: For timers with more than one circuit, you can choose to operate in Simultaneous (SIM), Independent (IND), or Pulse (PUL) MODE. This is set by the placement of jumpers on the back of the time mechanism. Again, for detailed instructions, refer to your device manual.
INITIAL SETUP: Press the MODE button until SET and DATE appear in the upper area of the display. Next, press the PLUS or MINUS buttons to choose the current MONTH. When the correct month is shown press the ENTER/NEXT button to advance.
Use PLUS or MINUS buttons to set DAY and press ENTER.
Select YEAR and press the MODE button to enter the TIME setting screen.
Use PLUS or MINUS buttons to SET current TIME, be mindful of AM/PM setting. (Hold down either button to advance from minutes to hours)
Next, press Mode to select your ZONE. Use the map included in the written instructions to determine if you’re NORTH, CENTRAL, or SOUTH ZONE, press the MODE button to advance.
Based on your ZONE, SUNUP time for LOAD 1 is displayed. It can be changed to match your location’s exact SUNUP time including any OFFSET you may want to include with the PLUS or MINUS buttons, press Mode to advance.
If you have more than one LOAD, the SUNUP time for LOAD 2 is now displayed. This is useful in environments involving lighting with different warm-up times, press Mode to advance.
Next, the SUNSET time for LOAD 1 is displayed. It can be changed to match your location’s exact SUNSET time including any OFFSET you may want to include with the PLUS or MINUS buttons, press MODE to advance.
PRO TIP: Astronomic schedules are created before FIXED ON and OFF schedules are programmed.
ASTRO and ON/OFF EVENTS are now visible in the display indicating we are in ASTRO (Astronomic) programming MODE.
LOAD 1 is displayed, indicating the ON EVENT will only affect LOAD 1, and is set to occur at SUNSET.
NEXT, press the DAY button to choose the day or days you want the ON EVENT to occur. You can choose every day of the week, Monday through Friday, or weekends.
Next, press ENTER to set an ASTRO ON EVENT for LOAD 2. Pressing the DAY button will set the ON EVENT to SUNSET. Continue pressing the DAY button until the day or days you would like to set for LOAD 2 are visible.
Next, press ENTER/NEXT to set ASTRO SUNUP OFF EVENT for LOAD 1. Press the DAY button to choose which day, and days you want the OFF EVENT to occur. You can choose every day of the week, Monday through Friday, or weekends.
Press ENTER/NEXT button to set ASTRO OFF EVENT for LOAD 2.
PRO TIP: If you do not want to set ASTRO ON or OFF EVENTS for LOAD 2, press the DAY button until the time is displayed as dashes, and go to “SETTING FIXED EVENTS”.
SETTING FIXED EVENTS: Press the MODE button, and you will see SET/FIXED and ON/OFF EVENTS on the left side of the display and the EVENT# number on the right.
PRO TIP: ON EVENTS will be odd numbers and OFF EVENTS will be even numbers.
Choose which LOAD(s) will be affected by a FIXED EVENT by pressing the ON/OFF buttons under the LOAD indicators.
Press the DAY button to choose which day or days will be affected. You can choose every day of the week, Monday through Friday or weekends, then press the PLUS or MINUS buttons to select the ON time. (Quickly advance the time by holding down the PLUS or MINUS button.)
Next, press ENTER/NEXT button to set a FIXED OFF time. Press the DAY button to choose which day or days will be affected, then press the PLUS or MINUS buttons to choose the time.
Make sure the correct LOAD(s) are selected for the OFF EVENT using the ON/OFF buttons below each LOAD indicator.
To set another FIXED EVENT press ENTER.
To EXIT programming press the MODE button.
After exiting programming MODE, the current time and date will be displayed, and AUTO will be displayed above the current time indicating your EVENTS will automatically run as scheduled, as well as the current status of each LOAD.
