If you want to know how to create an auto sequence counter in Excel, give this a quick watch.
I saw some videos going around showing off an auto-sequence counter "tip" and it used a full column reference and COUNTA to create a perpetual counter as data is input...
The problem was, the table had headers so the number would always show a hanging number below the list.
Making one simple adjustment by adding a -1 to the COUNTA solves this problem (to me), and all is now right with the world.
Here's the full function: =SEQUENCE(COUNTA(Column reference for data inputs)-1)
Adjust the amount you subtract depending on whether other headers or items might get picked up within the count.
It's that simple!
