Cheryl Ann Fernando graduated with a degree in Mass Communication, Masters in Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. Cheryl worked as a public relations consultant for four years before deciding to become a secondary school teacher. She is currently teaching in a rural school in Kedah whilst pursuing a doctorate in Education. She now writes a column on education for an online news portal.
