This Excel tutorial explains how to make the best chart for Excel dashboards – Excel mini charts.
These types of charts are basically simplified, miniaturised charts grouped and stacked vertically together and are designed to enable the user to ‘at a glance’ see performance over the defined reporting period easily and quickly.
Excel mini charts are perfect for including in dashboards and other types of reports. There great for including in presentations too whether face to face or online e.g. Zoom, Skype.
Other great benefits include:
• Space saving- can accommodate multiple charts in a single chart space
• Mini charts are native to Excel and require no VBA programming
• They are backwards compatible with earlier versions of Excel
• They can be copied out as a picture
• Several of Excel’s chart types can be adapted for this method
• Overhead is fairly low once the initial chart is made, since the rest of the charts are just duplicated and modified for their respective data period.
