Today, I’m taking you on a drone flight over Ichimaiiwa monolith in Kozagawa town, Wakayama Prefecture.
This giant monolith, designated as a National Natural Monument, towers about 100 meters high and stretches nearly 500 meters across. Rising straight out of the riverbank, its overwhelming presence is simply breathtaking. (It was officially recognized as a National Natural Monument back in 1941.)
In fact, Ichimaiiwa is considered one of the largest single rock formations in all of Japan. It’s so massive that you have to fly the drone far, far back just to fit the whole rock into the frame.
Originally, I had planned to film it with a pre-programmed flight route. But standing before its sheer size, I couldn’t resist switching to manual control and capturing it freely.
So sit back, relax, and enjoy the stunning view of this incredible natural wonder.
All filming was carried out with the necessary permits in place and with full attention to safety.
