How to Crop Videos + Extract Audio from Videos with one click | CaseGuard Studio
In this video, we will go over how to crop a video and how to extract audio from a video.
The crop video feature is great for far away footage like CCTV that you can crop to accurately capture the scene and for instances where an incident occurs within a small portion of a busy video with lots of people where redacting everyone would be very time-consuming. With the crop feature, you can select a specific section of the video containing the incident and crop out the unnecessary parts.
The "Extract Audio from Video" feature is useful when isolating the audio for editing purposes or to put over another video.
To begin, add a file to CaseGuard.
To crop the video and click on the “Crop” icon from the Toolbar on the left side of your Workspace.
Now select the area directly on the video and adjust it to the exact size needed.
You can also enter the exact height, width, x, and y numbers to crop by entering the dimensions.
Once the size is set and includes just the area needed click “Crop” and then “Export.”
A new cropped version of the file is exported and Redactions can be applied now.
Extract the audio by first clicking the “Extract Audio from Video” icon from the Toolbar on the left side of your Workspace.
A pop-up will appear, asking you to confirm your selection.
Note that extracting the audio from a video will not mute the video’s audio, it will extract the audio and export it as a new, separate file.
Click confirm and the task will be added to the tasks list.
Click “Export” and the audio extraction process will begin automatically, creating a new file in the Project Files Panel.
You can now place Redactions to this new audio file, burn captions onto it, and transcribe and translate it, all without having to deal with the video from the original file.
