Are you a subscriber to Adobe Creative Cloud? Hate The New Free Transform Tool in Photoshop CC 2019? Yes, then if you're anything like me the latest update to adobe creative cloud cc 2019 is probably breaking your brain cells.
The latest update to Adobe Creative Cloud the November 2018 update also updated Photoshop to version 20.0.1. This version of Photoshop made a major change which is probably driving most normal Photoshop users a little bit crazy. In the previous editions the free transform tool allowed you to resize things simply by grabbing a corner holding down the shift key and dragging. Holding down the shift key was there to constrain the proportions to keep you from accidentally changing the aspect ratio of the items that you were attempting to edit. This edition Adobe decided to change the way the free transform tool works and make it so that you do not have to hold the shift key . Now this makes sense for a lot of new users but for old died in the wool users like myself this broke my workflow. Photoshop is an app that mostly uses muscle memory. I, like most make edits without giving much thought. The hands just do what they have been trained to do.
Want to revert back to the good old days from free transform? Fret not, I Have a simple and easy fix to get you back to the way it was.
Here ie what you need:
Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Versions 20.0.1
A Plain Text Editor, I used TextEdit that ship with every Mac
A Glass of Water #StayHydrated or Whiskey works too.
3-4 minutes
To revert to the legacy transform behavior, do the following:
Use a plain text editor on Mac OS to create a plain text file (.txt). Type the text below in the text file:
TransformProportionalScale 0
Save the file as PSUserConfig.txt to your Photoshop settings folder:
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings/
Now restart Photoshop and all should be well.
