Why Your Excel Data Table Isn’t Working (7 Common Issues)
In this episode of Thriving in the City, I walk through seven common reasons why your Excel data table might not be working.
If you work in finance, consulting, or any role where you build models, you’ll probably use data tables for sensitivity analysis. But when they stop working, it can be incredibly frustrating and often the issue is something very small.
In this video we cover:
• Iterative calculations not enabled
• Excel set to manual calculation
• Row and column input cells mixed up
• Input cells that don’t actually influence the output
• Incorrectly selected row or column input cells
• Output cells referenced from a different sheet
These are issues I’ve personally run into many times while building models in investment banking, and hopefully this saves you some time the next time your sensitivity table refuses to work
