I was an avid notebook collector for years…. But I wasn’t as avid about actually using them.
I had big ideas and dreams of these battered notebooks, filled with ideas and observations. But you know what? The only thing stopping that from being a reality was me. I would try and “plan” a notebook. And then give up on it and move to another within a few pages.
Finally though, I had had enough of this. I started carrying a little pocket notebook, and it opened up a whole new chapter. I not only started filling up notebooks, my ideas and creativity were coming more easily and more often.
This isn’t some productivity or efficiency hack. This is a story of how carrying a notebook might give you a little joy in your creative life, and why I think physical notebooks are better than smartphone notes.
