TeKanAid Academy Free Jenkins Playground
This is a #TeKanAid Academy Free #Jenkins Playground. Jenkins is run in a Docker container. Terraform, Vault, and Ansible are also installed in the container so Jenkins can use these for deployments.
In this video, we'll take you step-by-step through the process of setting up your own playground using, so you can easily experiment with Jenkins without the hassle of building your own lab environment on your local computer.
We use Github Codespaces. You can run and edit code in the cloud, without having to set up a local development environment on your machine. This means that you can quickly spin up a Jenkins machine, run your experiments, and tear down the environment when you're done. All of this can be done without any resource or cost commitment, and with minimal setup time.
By the end of this video, you'll have a fully functional Jenkins machine that you can use to experiment with your applications and test your deployment strategies. And the best part? You won't have to worry about any setup or maintenance issues, as everything is running on the cloud.
Instructions:
Port 8080 is used to view the Jenkins UI. Simply go to the Ports tab and you will see the link to view in the browser.
To get the initial admin password, run the following command:
sudo cat /var/lib/docker/volumes/jenkins_home/_data/secrets/initialAdminPassword
If for some reason, the Jenkins container stops or gets deleted you can restart it with this command:
docker run -d -v jenkins_home:/var/jenkins_home -p 8080:8080 -p 50000:50000 samgabrail/jenkins-tf-vault-ansible:latest
