Why PROJECT ZOMBOID is the saddest survival game (Overanalyzed)

There is an overwhelming sense of hopelessness present in Project Zomboid as of build 41 that I've never really felt in a survival game before. Many people have criticized the game for its lack of NPCs, but I think it adds a really unique element to the game that's worth exploring.
