Femap V10: Surface Mesh Density and Control
In Femap version 10 it's possible to refine a surface mesh interactively by updating Mesh Size on Curves. Simply select one or more curves in the model, update the mesh density, and view the resulting mesh changes instantly. This is a very quick and easy way to change the mesh creating the desired level of detail in areas where it's needed, such as around stress raisers like the hole in this plate model. By placing small elements in areas of rapidly changing stress you can be sure of obtaining more accurate results while maintaining a managable model size.
