The Melody Foxtrot is danced through by Shannah and Phil. http://www.sequencedanceuk.co.uk Please see a separate video for the sequence danced to music. It was arranged in the mid 1950s and is a staple of most sequence dances. It has a classical feel with twinkles and locksteps, but also includes some steps in close ballroom hold.
BARS 1-4 - SQUARE - WALK/CHECK - BACK TWINKLE - LOCK STEP
BARS 5-8 - SQUARE - WALK/CHECK - BACK TWINKLE - LOCK STEP
BARS 9-12 - WALK/CHECK - BACKWARD WALK - FEATHER AGAINST LINE OF DANCE - WALK/CHECK - BACKWARD WALK - FEATHER DOWN LINE OF DANCE
DANCE 13-16 - WALK/CHECK - WALK BACKWARD x2 - BACK TWINKLE - WALKS x4 - SIDE STEP
A very difficult sequence to describe! The first half is danced in ballroom hold, moving to double hand hold during the second lock step (just before bar 9). Then keep double hand hold until the beginning of bar 13 - one of the trickiest parts is moving back in line!
Taking the final side close on a diagonal angle allows the dance to flow a little more.
A very graceful and free-flowing sequence.
