Past tense of "What did you do?" and "What were you doing?" in Norwegian:
Past tense of "What did you do?" (Preteritum)
Characteristic endings for this simple past tense: -et (-te), -de (-dde):
vasket, kjøpte, prøvde, trodde
We'll need to work with the verb stem; to do this, we need to remove the -e ending and look at the stem ending.
Past tense of "What did you do?" (Perfektum)
To answer the question "What did you do?" in the past tense (past perfect tense), we need:
the auxiliary verb har and the verb itself in the past form.
The form is constructed as follows:
If the verb ends in -et in the ordinary past tense, then the same ending will remain in the perfect tense.
