My luck in the Thompson Canyon remained poor. This was my third trip within 6 weeks and it turned out that this time CPKC was doing trackwork at Basque, delaying east and westbound trains. I moved from Spences Bridge and discovered a new location (for me) in Ashcroft BC. After a long conversation with a conductor (where I learned why there were so few trains) I almost missed the meet between these east- and west-bound coal trains. The eastbound is lead by CP8158, with CP8760 in mid-train and CP9740 on the tail. For Train #731, I missed the leader and caught CP8909 in mid-train and CP8051 on the tail. The crews for both these trains are employed by Canadian National Railways. The action is caught at the grade crossing of Cariboo Road at Mile 49.0 of the Canadian National Ashcroft Subdivision in Ashcroft, BC.
