World War Z vs Train to Busan | What Makes a Good Zombie Movie? | Flick Connection
If you put up World War Z vs Train to Busan, which one wins and what makes a good zombie movie? In a way, Train to Busan explained the problem with World War Z by creating a great zombie movie with a similar type of infection. Train to Busan could easily be a sub story taking place on the other side of the world during the events of World War Z. The reasons why Busan is better are many but it starts with the rating. It's rated R while WWZ is PG13 which immediately eliminates almost all gore which is a key component of any zombie flick.
Secondly, Train to Busan uses real actors as the zombies for most shots opposed to CGI Zombies that looked great in the trailer but look fake when you get a closer look in the movie. World War Z is an epic zombie movie but the terror and stress of the situation becomes lost in this globetrotting, epic of a story that really just focuses on one man. Train to Busan, on the other hand, focuses on strangers trapped in a speeding train who have to figure out how to work together to make it out alive. The audience is trapped with them and even though it's all subtitled, you feel much more invested as a result.
I love South Korean thrillers and Train to Busan isn't just the best South Korean zombie movie, it's easily one of the best zombie movies in recent years. Sequels for both of these movies are in the works, including news that David Fincher will Direct World War Z 2. If he does, it'll undoubtedly be rated R which should immediately fix a lot of the flaws in World War Z. For Brad Pitt World War Z was supposed to be the launch of a major franchise for him. He rarely stars in sequels so he actually roped in Fincher in hopes that with World War Z 2 David Fincher could create one of the best zombie movies of all time.
